Mochima means in our original tongue, "Earth of many waters". Beside being the name of our National Park, it is also the name of a gentile and beautiful town, situated in that park which is situated very near to Cumaná city.
Mochima is a tourist center par excellence, with plenty of townhouses, elegant restaurants, commercial establishments that sell beach-products, and an artistically carved dock from where people are carried to the nearby beaches. Above all, Mochima's inhabitants have a natural inclination to treat tourists well.
The beaches, which can be found along this way, have many common elements, like the tonality of their crystalline water which turn from turquoise to green, and play on the imagination of the traveller. The sand around these parts is also very smooth and goes from white to red, or beige. The coastline varies between sun and shadow, and between bare land and heavily forested areas. The blue sky is spotted with white clouds from time to time, They are a witness to the invitation that all this scenery is extending to the tourists.
The sea bottom is of an unimaginable beauty, and it offers a very diverse floura and fauna with corral reefs, all kinds of shellfish, and gold fish of different colors, specially liked by the divers.
